Governor Snyder has announced a new partnership with his alma mater that he says will 'drive' Michigan into the future.

He wants the state to work with those at the University of Michigan to help develop automated vehicle technology that he says will enhance Michigan's position as the automotive capital of the world.  The Governor made the announcement at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit where experts and auto enthusiasts from around the globe have gathered to see the latest in style and innovation.

The idea for the automated vehicle testing in the state was sponsored by Senator Mike Kowall.  It has since been signed into law.  Kowall compared the idea to Henry Ford's development of the assembly line and how that revolutionized the auto industry.

Forbes Magazine says the economic impact alone of autonomous vehicles will be in the trillions of dollars.
