I am sad to write here that I will not be surprised if there is a major terrorist attack during the upcoming Olympics in Rio. I don’t think you will be surprised either. That is an unfortunate commentary on the state of things today.

Security problems have plagued the Summer Olympics in Brazil from the onset. Other issues range from sewer issues to unfinished living quarters and unsafe drinking water for athletes. By comparison the Olympics in Rio could make the winter games held in Russia look pretty good.

With so much political upheaval and tens of thousands descending into the country, it could be nearly impossible to keep athletes and spectators safe.

I am of the opinion that if I were an Olympic athlete in the summer of 2016 I would likely stay home. I’d want my name in the history books for winning but not for being an athlete massacred by radical Islamic terrorists.
