WILX.com reports that the Lansing City Clerk has rejected a petition that sought to put a local medical marijuana ordinance in front of voters this November. Apparently, the language contained in the petition was turned down due to unlawful language.

The city clerk was advised by the city attorney that the language is too confusing and also included language that would attempt to change zoning laws. Reportedly, that can't be done through a ballot proposal.

The petition was an attempt to expedite the process of adopting a city ordinance regarding medical marijuana. A process that Lansing City Council members have debated for months.
