Should Immigrants Pay An Asylum Application Fee?
American citizens cannot enter a government building without some agency making you pay them a fee for something. That being said; why do so many Democrats have their underwear in a bunch because the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is proposing increasing fees and adding a new one to cover some cost.
The Trump administration announced last Friday that they are proposing to increase fees on immigrants filing applications in the United States. One that has the left really mad is a controversial $50 fee on asylum applications, $50 dollars you must be kidding me. To clarify that fee would be on what they call affirmative asylum applications. These are asylum claims made from within the United States, therefore the fee would not apply to people arriving across the U.S./Mexico border or other ports of entry.
To make matters worse Fox News reports that the USCIS says:
It pays $366 in adjudication costs to process each affirmative asylum application, bringing the total to almost $1,800 once overheads are included. Therefore the $50 only represents a fraction of the total cost to the federal government.
We as American citizens pay fee after fee after fee to our government and now we find out that we have been pay and the Democrats want us to continue to pay fees for people who want to come to our once again Great country.
USCIS Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli said in a statement:
USCIS is required to examine incoming and outgoing expenditures, just like a business, and make adjustments based on that analysis. This proposed adjustment in fees would ensure more applicants cover the true cost of their applications and minimizes subsidies from an already over-extended system...Furthermore, the adjudication of immigration applications and petitions requires in-depth screening, incurring costs that must be covered by the agency, and this proposal accounts for our operational needs and better aligns our fee schedule with the costs of processing each request
Why does everyone on the left and some establishment Republicans think us Americans who actually pay federal taxes also must pay all these other people's fees. If they have no money at the time they can set up a payment system and if they miss a payment without good reason they are immediately deported from our great country.
Sounds fair to me how about you?
By the way I would say they not only have to pay the $50 but the entire $1,800 it cost us to process their applications.
President Trump is trying to stick up for us tax paying citizens when few others in congress are. It is time for more people to stand with President Trump and represent our interest.
