Severe Weather Chance On Friday For Lansing Area Increases
The unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing for the last week is about to change drastically, bringing us closer to normal weather conditions for late February. But, with that change comes the possibility of severe weather most typically saved for April and May in our neck of the woods.
The National Weather Service has increased the chances of severe thunderstorms for Mid-Michigan this Friday. According to a post on Twitter, a moderate 15% risk of severe storms exists for a line roughly along and south of I-96 and I-69. The main threat will be damaging winds, but dangerous lightning is also possible. This time of the year, hail chance are always increased. And, the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK isn't ruling out the chance for isolated tornadoes.
