Michigan Madness

Michigan made it look easy gliding to the Big Ten Tournament win over the weekend. Michigan State had to sweat it out but both are in the big dance and heading for a little basketball madness in a couple of days.

Michigan will open as a 7th seed facing 10th seed Oklahoma State. Michigan has been on a hot run ever since it’s plane slid off the runway headed to DC for the Big Ten Tourney. They’ve been running wild since. But if the Wolverines make it through the first round they are likely to meet Louisville the in the Round of 32 and that could prove to be a huge challenge. Not to mention that a 7th seed will be hard pressed to make a deep run but if the Wolverines slay the Cardinal, anything is possible.

Down the road Michigan State is coming in as a 10th seed. After last years shocking loss to Middle Tennessee a 15 seed the Spartans are just glad to show up to the party with just about the bare minimum required wins with 19. They will begin with a talented squad from Miami. I never bet against a Tom Izzo MSU squad but this team could break either way. The Spartans could drop out in the first round or play above their heads and win a couple. We shall wait and see.

This is why they call it madness anyway!
