Don’t Pack Away Shovels Yet: Michigan to Expect Heavy, Wet Snow This Week
Michigan is no stranger to snowstorms in the winter but Mother Nature sure has some tricks up her sleeve as she fakes us out one day, then dumps on us the next. That, of course, is no different this week.
I know, I know, we are still cleaning up from Lansing's last record-breaking snowfall, yet here we go again.

A Warm(er) Wednesday Forecast For Michigan Makes For Moisture
When it comes to the National Weather Service (NWS) forecast for Wednesday, February 16th into Thursday, February 17th, regardless of what snow may actually come our way, we can expect some wet, windy weather.
For Wednesday, the NWS forecasts a high near 46 with showers likely and wind 20-23 mph with gusts up to over 40 mph. Going into Wednesday night, showers continue (100% chance of precipitation) with a low near 28.
According to MLive, this Wednesday rain has potential to turn into snow by Wednesday night, per European and U.S. (GFS) forecasting models.
What This Mean For Michigan's Thursday Snowstorm
MLive, citing the European Forecasting model, predicts the heaviest snow Thursday will be mostly in Southeaster, lower Michigan. However, when citing the U.S. (GFS) model, MLive predicts the heavier load of snow falling from Southwest, lower Michigan.
Either model you look at, though, MLive can say that all Thursday and Thursday night will feature snow, wind and dangerous road conditions.
The NWS forecast predicts a high near 35 for Thursday with a 90% chance of precipitation with snow showers and freezing rain and "new snow accumulation of around 3 inches."
While MLive does say it is still a little too early to tell just how bad or how widespread this snowstorm will be, they do note that the snow we do get will be wet, heavy, "back-breaker type snow."
At least, though, there is some hope on the horizon as NWS predicts temperatures in Michigan to be "leaning above" or "likely above" normal.
