8 Things We Michiganders Absolutely Hate About Michigan
Michigan residents are frustrated by pothole-ridden roads, snow shoveling, high auto insurance rates, and much more. Do you agree with this list?
We hate potholes. But we hate road construction even more. Is the 10-cent bottle and can return enough to help us forget about the Detroit Lions? No.
8 Things We Michiganders Absolutely Hate About Michigan
Road Construction
This is meant with no disrespect to the hard-working members of the road crews. However, all Michiganders are so tired of land closures and orange barrels. It feels like the road construction never ends.
Too Many Potholes
Yes, we complain about road construction and also complain about potholes. I see the irony. Side note: you can report potholes in the station of Michigan by clicking here.
Shoveling Snow
Overall, the state of Michigan averages just over 60 inches of snow a year. Those numbers go up depending on how far North you are or how close you are to Lake Michigan. I can speak for all Michiganders when I say, our lower backs need a break.
Price of Auto Insurance
Michigan has the highest full-coverage auto insurance rates in the nation according to carinsurance.com. You'd think Michigan would have far more public transportation with this fact in mind.
Avoiding Deer
Michiganders report around 50,000 car accidents involving deer each year. When you first hit a deer, you're heartbroken for the animal. Then you get out of your car and see the damage. This takes us back to that expensive auto insurance.
Michigan Left Turn
Engineers love the Michigan Left. Drivers do NOT. So, what's a Michigan left? When you're at an intersection that has no left turn signs, you then go through the intersection to make a U-Turn to turn right. A Michigan Left changes one turn into three turns. Good times. Unpredictable Weather
You know the old cliche, "If you don't like the weather in Michigan, just wait a minute?" We live that cliche a little too often. One day it's sunny and 60. Then the next day we have a snowstorm. Throw in an ice storm, a tornado, and some locusts, and that sums up Michigan.
Crying Over Victories
After decades of being let down, the state of Michigan is so overwhelmed by each Detroit Lion win, that we can't keep enough tissue in stock.
OK Michiganders, what did we miss? Let us know what you hate about Michigan in the comments. We might add your complaint to this article.
