WILX.com reports that Ford Motor Company is issuing a recall of some 320,000 of its Transit vans.

This is a second recall on the vans over a potential drive shaft issue that can cause a loss of power, and other residual effects. The problem stems from the potential of the drive shafts cracking at the coupling. If the vehicle continues to be driven after the malfunction, the entire drive shaft may break free. This could also cause a van move while in park.

There is also the potential of the shaft damaging fuel and brake lines. So far, Fors has no reports of accidents or injuries because of the problem.

Because of a parts shortage, Ford will replace the faulty couplings every 40,000 miles until a final solution is determined.
