When most people retire after being in the workforce most of their lives, relaxing, spending time with hobbies, traveling, or just watching some TV are usually the agenda. Some retirees continue to work while others volunteer with an organization to keep the body moving, socialize, and give back to the community they spent their lives in.

One Michigan retiree who was pretty handy around the kitchen started baking for family and neighbors, but soon that spread to several around his Portage community.

His name is Gordon Willis and for over 20 years he has been baking and sharing with his friends and neighbors but what he has been baking really caught on, so he thought he would share it with others.

According to WOOD,

Willis likes to bake fudge and share it with his church, local hospitals, policemen, and firefighters. Willis's delicious fudge earned him the name "The Fudge Guy." Willis said, "I try to put fudge where people need to know that they're loved and that they're wanted and that they are serving a real good purpose for us."

It is amazing the impact Willis has had on the community for over 20 years. Recently, Willis lost his cane and one of the people who enjoyed his fudge decided that he would give back to the man that has given such joy to others.

A Portage Police Officer by the name of Michael Schumacher heard that Willis had lost his cane. Schumacher went to a local medical supply store and picked up a cane but didn't stop there. He had the cane custom logoed with police logos and colors to match the department in appreciation for what Willis does for the officers.

Willis went on to say, "I hope to continue making fudge right up 'til the good Lord calls me home."

Gordon Willis gets around pretty darn well at 92 and I sure hope he's around a lot longer to keep putting smiles on the faces of those in Portage.
