The latest Kids Count report with some disturbing statistics.  It shows that the number of children needing federal assistance jumped more than 50-percent from 2005 to 2012.

The survey also found the number of suspected child abuse cases rose as well to the highest level in more than 20 years.

The report breaks down conditions for children in the State based on health, education and economic background.  Child advocates say the numbers show that there is the need for more government assistance not less and are urging state officials at those at the federal level to continue entitlement programs that benefit children and families.
