A new federal government report finds some discouraging news for our youth.

Details of the National Youth Fitness Survey for 2012, the latest year available, indicates that only a small percentage of 12 to 15 year olds in this country are getting the recommended amount of exercise.

The survey found only 1 in 4 meet the recommendations of at least one hour of moderate to vigorous activity each and every day.  The results involved 800 students who tracked their daily routine and underwent physical exams as part of the study.

Researchers are downplaying the outcome of the survey, saying the results are disappointing but show plenty of room for improvement.
