The earliest measurable snowfalls ever recorded are on the books already in parts of South Dakota and Wyoming. We are coming off what will likely be the coldest summer on record in America and that followed the third coldest winter.

My farmer friends in Southern Michigan are warning again to get ready for brutal cold and a lot of snow. They said that last year too and most of us just rolled our eyes. Then about the tenth of November Old Man Winter came to call and refused to leave until early May.

We had a white Halloween and Thanksgiving I’m wondering when the snow will come and stay this year. Columbus Day is October 13th this year and I wonder if I’ll be needing the shovel by then.

When do you think the first measurable snow will fall in Marquette, Cadillac and Grand Rapids? Put your bets on the table here.
