Many people are reporting problems with service on their smartphones, cable television and even internet.    The cause is likely solar flares.  But while problematic, they can be something to see!

MLive.com is reporting today that two solar flares have occurred in as many days.  While clear skies pave the way for those in the state's Upper Peninsula to get to see the light show, those to the south may be more hard pressed to see anything.

Clouds are in the forecast for tonight, but the article points to some brief clearings that could allow for viewing of the northern lights as far south as Detroit.

While continued cool for the weekend, there are clear skies forecast for Saturday night, so that could be your best chance at doing some star-gazing.
