A Detroit rap artist and music producer at the heart of an investigation into money laundering and what investigators say is a huge heroin empire remains free today after the Judge in the case refused to revoke his bond.

Brian ‘Peanut’ Brown is a convicted felon for previous convictions involving drugs but despite an ongoing investigation prosecutors are yet to charge him with new crimes in the case.

Federal District Judge Nancy Edmunds took time to meet with both the prosecutor in charge of the case and Brown’s defense attorney before concluding the 47 year old is complying with the terms of his bond. The prosecutor called Brown who is in charge of a recording company called BMB a threat to the community but it was not enough to convince Edmunds he needed to be remanded. Brown remains free with a tether from a 2016 firearms charge.
