Olympian Rowdy Gains has spent thousands of hours swimming.  The discipline, stamina and determination of his youth paid off big time when he represented the USA in the Olympic games and won 3 gold medals. While many states are contemplating reclosing pools across the country, USA Swimming’s Shana Ferguson says states should keep competitive swimming opportunities open.

 The CDC says there is no evidence COVID-19 can be spread in chlorine. Swim lessons teach young children how to remain safe in or near the water.  Unlike many other sports, swimming does not require direct contact between teammates or coaches and social distancing can be maintained throughout practice. Regular physical activity is a core component for long-term health and plays a role in reducing risk factors for contracting COVID-19.
