Revolution Farms Lettuce Recalled Due to Possible Health Risk

According to the FDA, Revolution Farms, LLC of Caledonia, Michigan is expanding the voluntary recall announced last week to include all products sold under the Revolution Farms brand.

The initial recall went out on April 5 when the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) received a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in a random sample test of a package of Revolution Farms lettuce. The recall was then voluntarily expanded on April 6, when the recalled product was linked with a multi-state outbreak of Listeriosis.

The FDA says the investigation is ongoing.

Listeriosis can be a serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Anyone experiencing these symptoms should contact their health care provider.
