The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids is warning Mid-Michigan residents of another possibility of nasty weather this weekend that could interrupt power services.

A storm system is expected to hit the area beginning Saturday morning with freezing rain causing slippery roads near and north of the I-96 corridor. Winds are expected to pick up as well, potentially to dangerous conditions by Sunday when precipitation is expected to change to all snow. The result of this, of course, is the potential for blowing and drifting snow on roadways.

Additionally, water levels are expected to rise in area rivers again. This may result in more ice jams and flooding like residents in Portland and Ionia County have dealt with recently.

However, this is all an early warning as forecasters have yet to nail down an exact storm path. Things may change between now and Saturday.
