The man charged with stabbing an airport police officer in Michigan, Amor Ftouhi, attempted to buy a gun in Michigan before his knife attack at the Flint International Airport.

Fox 2 Detroit news station is reporting that he attempted to buy a gun in Mt. Clemens at a trade center where vendors rent out space to sell guns and knifes.  He attempted to purchase the gun shortly after arriving in the U.S. on Friday.

David Gelios, special agent in charge of the Detroit division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, told reporters:

It is a good news story that we have an individual who attempted to buy a gun in the United States and was unsuccessful

It is interesting to note though that apparently our gun laws do work.

Also when it comes to the question of why Amor Ftouhi choose the Flint International airport Special Agent Gelios told reporters:

We have absolutely no indication that (Ftouhi) had any association with anyone in the Flint area or thus far, Michigan

I assume the mystery will be discovered in time.
