I have to make it fun for me or I will shed a tear about it.

As a new resident of the state of Michigan, I was worried that I would not understand the state policies and deadlines for taxes.

So I researched to make it extremely easy for you to find out the answer to the most important question you may have when comes to taxes.

When will get my money??

When will I receive my Michigan tax refund?

Depending on the situation, it could be a relatively quick turnaround.

USA.Gov says that you could receive your refund

"within 21 days of when you electronically filed your tax return, and longer for paper returns."

Specifically for Michigan, Ron Leix, who is the spokesperson for the Michigan Treasury, says,

"For refunds, eFile returns take about 14 days and paper returns take about eight weeks."

However, if there are issues with your return, it will be taking longer to receive your refund.

How can I check the status of my refund?

Gone are the days when you had to go to the treasurer's office to figure this out.

That's why we have the Internet!

You should typically wait two weeks from the time you receive confirmation that your tax return was accepted if you filed online. If you filed by paper, it could take up to six weeks for any updates to be tracked.

However, you can check Michigan's website for the latest status updates here.

I have a question about my tax return. Who do I ask?

You can get your question answered by using the Michigan Treasury eServices.

The service will need the following information from you in order to help so keep that in mind.

  • The primary filer's Social Security number
  • Primary filer's last name
  • Tax Year
  • Filing Status
  • Adjusted Gross Income or Total Household Resources
