Michigan Likes Its Booze, Named 10th Drunkest State
Apparently, Michigan really likes booze! A story at WILX.com cites Michigan as the tenth drunkest state in the U.S.
A website called 24/7 Wall St. came up with the list, using data and criteria from the Center for Disease Control. According to the story, 20 percent of adults in the state over 18 years of age drink to levels that CDC consider excessive. The national average is 18 percent.
CDC defines binge drinking as four or more drinks in one sitting for women, five drinks in one setting for men. Heavy drinking is defined as at least 8 drinks per week for women, 15 drinks per week for men.
