Michigan Has the Best or Worst Drivers in the Country?

The whole concept behind this post is for you, a licensed Michigan driver, to decide whether Michigan has the best or worst drivers in the country.

I'm writing this article because lately, every time I get out on the roads here in Michigan, I can count at least 10 drivers who irritate me so much that I wish I would have just stayed home and not gone anywhere.

Every single day I see drivers using cell phones, not paying attention to road signs, not using turn signals, cutting people off in traffic, not driving the speed limit, driving too fast or driving 30 mph in at 45 mph zone. What's wrong with this picture?

If we go back to an article in the Detroit Free Press, it tells us that based on accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, citations and fatalities, believe it or not, Michigan came out on top.

This was all based on a study and the article came out on Jan. 25, 2019. Here's a snippet from that article from the Detroit Free Press:

However, there's a catch. The study only accounts for insured drivers and Michigan "has plenty of rule breakers," according to the release, which added that one in five Michiganders doesn't have car insurance.

How bad is this that 1 in 5 people in Michigan, based on information from 2019, is driving around without any car insurance. This is a serious red flag for the rest of us who are doing the right thing by paying for car insurance.

I wrote this article for you and anyone else reading this article to form your own opinion. Do you think Michigan has the best or worst drivers in the country?

My opinion only: We have both and there's nothing we can do about it. I think if a lot of people retook the written driving test and the road test at the Secretary of State's office, many would find it helpful for future driving.
