Michigan DNR Says State Campsites Should Reopen in Late June
The Michigan DNR sent out a press release earlier this week with some updates on their expected opening dates under the revised "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order by Governor Whitmer. The DNR says that under the updated Executive Order, most state parks, trail and boating access sites are open for local use. They add that state campgrounds, other lodging and shelters are scheduled to open in phases.
So, as far as opening dates go this year, in their press release, the Michigan DNR says that state campgrounds, overnight lodging and shelters are expected to open up on Monday, June 22nd, 2020. The DNR also says that the state forest campgrounds and DNR operated harbors are scheduled to open on Wednesday, June 10th. All reservations between May 15th and June 21st have been canceled. However, the DNR says that you can request to change your reservation date to later in the season or you can choose a full refund. Click here to find out more about how that process will work.
