WILX.com reports that Lansing City Council members approved a resolution Monday night that would allow the city to move the Lansing City Market to a new location.

This resolution comes on the heels of Lansing Mayor Andy Schor's announcement that the current Lansing City Market will shutter by the end of the summer. Schor says the market is no longer a viable investment on the part of the city as tax dollars were supposed to subsidize costs for the building. As of now, there are two stores and a bar inside the market. Schor noted the concern of city leaders worried about spending $80,000 annually to subsidize a bar.

But, with this resolution passed, it allows the city to find another new location for Lansing City Market, less than 10 years after the current building opened for business.
