Delta Officials Confirm Lansing Mall Has a New Owner
According to the Lansing State Journal, the Lansing Mall has a new owner.
The Lansing Mall has been a staple in the Lansing area for many years. I would go to the Lansing Mall on West Saginaw just about every weekend back in the 80's. In fact, I worked at Houlihan's inside the Lansing Mall as one of their club DJ's.
The Lansing State Journal along with Delta Township officials said Kohan Retail Investment Group, a New York based company, bought the mall from New York based Brookfield Properties a few weeks ago.
At this point, township officials don't know any further details about the sale. (LSJ)
The Lansing State Journal adds that the company owns nearly 40 malls and shopping centers around the country, including half a dozen in Michigan. Among them is Westwood Mall in Jackson and Adrian Mall in Adrian.
According to the company's website, malls are evolving, and as time goes on they are no longer just a tent to house box stores and chains, but are home to more local small and medium sized businesses of all stripes. (LSJ)
According to the Lansing State Journal, large spaces offer opportunity for fundraising events, festivals, farmers markets, miniature golf, dancing, concerts, banquets, theatre, and virtually and social gathering all under one roof with protection from the elements.
At this point we don't have any idea on what the new company plans on doing with their new purchase of the Lansing Mall. We should all be excited about this because it's time to bring new life back to the Lansing Mall once again.
