Michigan State will not be playing 12 straight weeks in 2017.

The university's athletic department announced two schedule changes that pushes the Spartans bye week back to week three next season.

The Spartans game against Bowling Green has now been moved from week two to week one and the game against Western Michigan will be played week two as opposed to week three. Both games will be at Spartan Stadium.

This news should be very good for Spartan Nation as in 2016 they watched their team play 11 straight weeks after a week two bye this year. They would only win two games after the bye. Their one "tune-up" game to start the season was a 28-13 win over FCS Furman. Their 2016 campaign finished 3-9.

The Spartans will play four straight home games to open 2017. All three non-conference games (BGSU, WMU and Notre Dame) and their Big Ten opener against Iowa.

The 2017 Homecoming Game is scheduled for October 21st against Indiana.

Their first four road games of the year in 2017 include back to back weeks at Michigan and Minnesota, at Northwestern and a Veteran's Day game in Columbus against Ohio State.
