Legislation is set to be proposed today to protect those working at gas stations and convenience stores.  The bill was prompted by the disappearance back in April of Jessica Heeringa.  The young mother was working alone at a gas station in Norton Shores when she was apparently abducted.  She hasn't been heard from since.  A press conference to announce the legislation will take place at the Pointes Shopping Center on Sternburg Road near that Exxon Station where she went missing.  Sponsors of the bill, including State Representative Collen LaMonte, want to require additional workers and surveillance and security for those working off-hour shifts.
