This has been the objective of Chrysler and Fiat C.E.O. Sergio Marchionne for years: successfully team up the two auto companies and now it's a done deal. Fiat now owns the remaining 41.46% from the U.A.W. Retiree Medical Benefits Trust. The trust is affiliated with the United Auto Workers. Fiat was founded in the late 1800's and it's home base has always been Italy. There is some speculation other countries are being considered.
