Mid-December Warm-Up Will Have Michigan Winter Feeling More Like Spring
The calendar may read December, but the weather is going to feel a bit more like April or May these next couple of weeks.
Winter Weather Warm-up on its Way for Michigan
According to MLive, Michigan is going to see a "blowtorch" warm-up in the middle of December. What's a "blowtorch" warm-up? Really, it's just a funny name given to the warm-up by meteorologists based on how it looks on the weather map. The only thing you really need to know is that it's about to get unseasonably warm in Michigan.
Michiganders will see the beginning of the winter warm-up this weekend, with temperatures reaching a high of 41 degrees on Friday and 56 degrees on Saturday, according to the Weather Channel. Throughout the week, we'll see temperatures range from 45 to 55 degrees.
What's the Weather in Lasing Going to be Like Next Week?
Lansing isn't getting left out in the cold; things will start to warm up for us this Friday. After that, we won't see high temperatures below 43 degrees for the next week. Even the week before Christmas looks to be a bit warmer than usual, with the weekend before not dipping below 38 degrees. Chances for a white Christmas are not looking great.
It's Going to be Unseasonably Warm in Michigan
This warm weather that's making its way through Michigan is normal, in a sense. It's not unusual to see these random warm-ups in the middle of winter. However, according to MLive,
At the height of the warming trend next Wednesday or Thursday, we could warm to around 30 degrees above normal! Most record high temperature days are around 25 degrees warmer than normal.
So, if you're not a fan of snow or cold temps, this next week or so will be a great chance for you to get outside and enjoy the weather. That is before the snow decides to return.
When the snow does return, watch out for snow melt flooding. Check out the gallery below to see what you can do to prevent it.
