This walk hits close to home for me because I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008. I've been blessed with the ability to emcee this walk every year since spring of 2009 when it was still at Potter Park Zoo. The number of participants increases every year and we're proud of this effort, there is still work to do.

Knowledge is power, knowing more about a disease might motivate you to participate. When I was diagnosed I knew absolutely nothing about Multiple Sclerosis. Here's what it means per the Mayo Clinic:

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). In MS, the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body.

I am very fortunate to have the MS that I have. Thousands of others are not that lucky and that is why we keep moving. If we keep moving; moving the needle and moving towards a cure and continued services then we are headed in the right direction.

If you would like to join the fight against MS and want to help keep the needle moving, please sign up to participate.
