WILX.com reports that the National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touchdown during the storms that swept through the area on Thursday evening.

An EF-0 twister caused damage to homes, barns, garages, and trees near New Lothrop. The tornado carried with it winds of 85 miles per hour. The National Weather Service says the tornado carved a path of about two and a half miles of land for the three minutes it was on the ground.

According to the report, the emergency manager for Shiawassee County says that those who sustained property damage all are insured.
