The Tigers beat California 7-1 in the first of a four-game series in Anaheim.    The Tigers got on the board early, with three runs in the first on a Justin Upton three run homer. Center fielder Andrew Romine added a two run shot in the second.  Romine grew up just a short distance from the park in Anaheim.  His dad, Kevin, played for the Red Sox, but then moved the family to Anaheim in the 90’s after becoming a police officer.   James McCann knocked in the Tigers’ sixth run in the 8th.   McCann was 3 for 4, as was Ian Kinsler, who returned to the lineup after being out for several games with a tight hamstring. Michael Fulmer went 7 innings and gave up just one run on three hits and struck out seven, as he raised his record to 4-1 and lowered his earned run average to 2.54.

Jordan Zimmerman will start for the Tigers tonight. Hear it at 9:40pm on 95.3 WBCK
