They are the words of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt that many of us know all too well, "December 7th, 1941. A date which will live in infamy". The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii began the United States' entry into World War II. The 80th anniversary of the attack is this coming Tuesday.
After 80 years, two sailors from southwest Michigan killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor have been identified and will be buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Dick Thelen: That's right. 889 in the water. Thats' how many went in. There wasn't a question we had to ask how many had gotten on (off?) the ship, when it was sinking. How many went down with the ship actually. So I forgot what I put down. They come up with 300 additional went down with the ship. The other 600 died in the water.
