We had some heavy storms last night and it left about 50,000 homes in the Mid-Michigan area without power. According to MLive and the Consumer's Energy outage map, there are still thousands of homes without power after last nights thunderstorms. There were no tornado touchdowns, which was good, but the storms were fast moving and had a lot of power behind them which left trees down and windows shattered.

Most of the power outages were mostly in Grand Rapids or just outside of the city. There were also a lot of power outages just north of Battle Creek and several just west of Ionia. Most of the power outages had to do with trees either falling on the lines or in some areas there were reports of building damage as well. There are no injuries reported but you can see the outage map here, and also if you have an outage in your area you can enter it here.

As of noon on 9/12, there were over 500 outages and 25,000 without power so Consumers is making quick work on getting everyone's lights back on.
