Scott Turner: President Trump is signing a policing executive order

Scott Turner is the Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council.

President Trump is signing a policing executive order to help ensure that we have safe communities and a fair justice system for all Americans. The President’s executive order will help promote best practices for law enforcement and certify independent organizations to provide accreditation to police departments on de-escalation, use of force, and community engagement. Additionally, a system will be created to allow police departments to share information about incidents of excessive force. President Trump has been a leader in criminal justice reform. In December of 2018, he signed the FIRST Step Act that enacted commonsense sentencing reforms to make our justice system fairer for all Americans.
