Did dinosaurs ever live in Michigan? The answer is yes, they lived in the Mitten state 100 million years ago. The woolly mammoth and the American mastodon roamed the Great Lakes state. Lots of food and water to be found so Michigan was an excellent place for dinosaurs to thrive.

If dinosaurs once lived in Michigan, how come no one has ever discovered one in the state? Well at the time when dinosaurs were inhabiting Michigan nature was unable to fossilize their remains. The sediments in the state were steadily being eroded by natural forces.
Has Anything Prehistoric Been Found in Michigan?
Very few fossils have been found in Michigan until recently. Some prehistoric whales and some scattered remains of giant Pleistocene mammals have been found. In 2015, a set of woolly mammoth bones were found under a lima bean field in the town of Chelsea.
If you plan on digging for dinosaurs you may want to try elsewhere in the country so your odds are better of finding something substantial because it's just not going to happen in Michigan.
