New Video Game to Help Kids With ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD is something millions of children have to deal with. When I was in elementary school I had some trouble paying attention and was tested for it, but didn't have it. I have two friends who have dealt with it as a kid and still deal with symptoms regarding it now. When I saw there was an FDA approved video game for kids with ADHD I immediately had to send it to them because my one friend has talked about how video games have helped him focused more than medication.
According to WILX, the game is called EndeavorRx, which requires a prescription and is designed for children ages 8 to 12 with certain symptoms of ADHD. Not only is this the first game for ADHD it is also the first time the FDA has cleared a digital therapy for improving ADHD symptoms. This game is also another first for the FDA, as it is the first time the FDA will be marketing a game as therapy for a condition.
The reason for the FDA being fans of this game therapy is because of multiple studies that showed kids with ADHD improving their sensory and motor skills. The game is a racing game of sorts, with lots of characters, you can see some of it here.
