Multiple Deaths In Kalamazoo Area Train & Car Collision

Officials with the Michigan State Police have released the names of the three people who were killed in a collision between a vehicle and a passing train Sunday evening. All three were from Kalamazoo. 20-year-old Jarmaine Brown, 19-year-old Marcionna Edwards, and 18-year-old Jordan Brooks perished in the crash at the corner of South 11th Street and West KL Avenue about 10 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the crash.

Kalamazoo County authorities have confirmed that at least three people were killed following a collision between a train and a vehicle late Sunday evening. According to WWMT, it happened at a crossing in the area of South 11th Street and W. "KL" Ave. at around 10:00 pm.
Further information was not immediately available and investigators are still trying to determine what happened at that crossing. No other injuries related to the crash have been reported at this time. The roadway on S. 11th Street was closed to traffic both east and west of "KL" Ave. while crews worked to clear the scene.
Several departments responded to the scene including deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's office, officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, as well as Oshtemo Township Fire officials and Michigan State Police troopers.
The train reportedly involved with the crash was an Amtrak train that was passing through as it headed to Chicago from Detroit.
