Most Michigan Road Projects Halt For The Holiday, Many Stay Active
WILX.com is reporting that the Michigan Department of Transportation is halting the majority of its projects on state and interstate trunklines. But, there will be some projects on highways that will stay active through Memorial Day, and may slow down holiday travelers.
According to the report, 90 of the 131 projects happening on I, M, and U.S. routes throughout the state will be shut down from 3:00 PM Friday until 6:00 AM Tuesday.
Some of the major roads and highways traveled by tourists and holiday travelers that will see continued construction and restrictions include:
US-41/M-28 in Marquette County
M-55 in Manistee County
M-72 in Crawford County
US-31 in Petoskey
US-131 in Grand Traverse County
US-10 in Clare County
Several portions of I-96 in Kent, Ionia, and Ottawa Counties
Additionally, major closures and projects in Metro Detroit will continue, as will work along I-69 and I-475 near Flint.
