More Americans Getting Subscription Services
There are subscription services for media, food, and your pets but it appears that more Americans than ever are signing up, what about you? According to a recent CompareCards.com survey, more Americans are making cuts on how they spend their money but one thing that isn't being cut from the budget are subscription services/clubs.
The survey asked 1,201 Americans about their spending while at home during the coronavirus, and 1 in 3 Americans have said that they have purchased a new subscription service just because of COVID-19 and circumstances related to it. Most of the people that responded to the survey said that main reason for signing up for another subscription service was because they were looking for entertainment for them or their kids during this time. Another reason some people gave was they use subscription services, especially grocery or meal kits, because it allows them to get food for their house without having to put themselves at risk going to the store.
The top subscriptions that people have paid for recently are Amazon, due to having free shipping as well as media/entertainment, and Instacart, which allows users to have groceries shipped to their house. Other subscriptions that have seen a rise recently are magazine/newspaper and exercise programs both up 8%. You can see the full results here.
