WILX.com is reporting that the Michigan State Police and Michigan Department of Transportation officials are focusing on the reduction of traffic deaths after 30 people were killed on state road ways in the last week, alone.

The combined effort focuses on educating Michigan motorists about safety on state highways, including the dangers of distracted driving.

Already in 2019, there have been a reported 189 traffic deaths. In 2017, there were 967 traffic related deaths in Michigan. Nationwide, the number of traffic-related deaths is 35,000.
