We're talking about stink bugs and golly, are they out in full force already this fall.

Michigan Stink Bug Season

When it comes to a specific time of the year where stink bugs are more common in our homes, we truly are "into the thick of it" here, friends.

Unfortunately, according to Michigan State University Integrated Pest Management, "At the end of the summer and into the fall, you may start to find brown marmorated stink bugs appearing in homes and other buildings. They are looking for a protected place to spend the winter."

This means you are probably in the same situation as I am where you go to open your front door only to find a whole horde of stink bugs just waiting to jump right on inside with you!

I've talked about my hatred for stink bugs before, I'm convinced they are evil and serve no purpose other than that. As it turns out, I'm (half) right as they are actually an invasive species and haven't been around that long.

MSU reports the brown marmorated stink bugs were first spotted in Michigan in 2010...

How to Get Rid of Them

We all are aware we're not supposed to squish them...which makes it even harder to get rid of them.

Not only that, but these suckers can FLY and when they do, it's horrifying.

So how DO you get rid of them?

According to Pest World's "Stink Bug Prevention: 10 Tips to Keep This Smelly Pest at Bay", the main thing you can do is seal off any potential points of entry they could possibly have.

Seal your doors, windows, cracks, broken screens, etc.

If you have done all that, The Pest Rangers also offer some natural repellents such as essential oils, special rocks, garlic spray and more.

Other than a few simple prevention measures, once they are in your home, you can try to trap them and do with them what you will from there (you're justified in killing them). You could also vacuum them up and just make sure to empty your vacuum outside.
