Volunteers showed up on Saturday, September 21st as part of the annual Alliance for the Great Lakes, according to an article reported by WILX.

The cleanups not only keep the beautiful beaches we have here in Michigan clean and safe for your enjoyment, it also helps keep plastic from polluting the Great Lakes.

Back in 2018, according to the Adopt-a-Beach program, over 6,000 volunteers showed up to help pick up 11,655 pounds of liter from over 240 clean up locations around the lakes.
