Lions Cut Former Michigan State QB Connor Cook

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Detroit Lions have parted ways with former Michigan State Quarterback Connor Cook.

Cook was signed by the Lions in January to compete for the job to backup starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. But, according to the report, he spent spring camps working as the third string quarterback, behind Tom Savage.

The Lions signed former Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears backup David Fales from San Jose State as a free agent to be the third string man.

Originally, drafted in the fourth-round by the Oakland Raiders in 2016, Cook has only appeared in two career games and has been on four different NFL rosters.
