Lansing’s Beach Park Almost Finished

Lansing's beach park or "Rotary Park" as it will be called has been under construction for most of the spring and summer but is almost done. According to the Lansing State Journal, the beach part of the park is part of a $1.8 million project called Rotary Park. The beach portion of the park is expected to open at the end of the month, but there will be some things to know about it.

First, even though there will be sand and a beach-like atmosphere, you won't be able to swim in the Grand River. In addition, the sand and people won't be touching the river as a sea wall has been put up to stop sand and people from jumping in. There will be other amenities though at the park as it will feature a plaza, sculpture patio, outdoor gas fireplace and solar-powered lighted forest that can change colors. Also, once the beach area opens, lounge chairs and umbrellas will be available.

There are other things coming to riverfront in downtown Lansing too, like a classroom from Impression 5, as well as a performance stage on or near Adado Riverfront Park. You can see more on the park and other things coming to downtown Lansing here.
