Lansing Hiring For The Election

The City of Lansing got a big grant to help the city with the 2020 election. The 2020 election is a big one not only because we are voting for President but also because we have a Senator election and a few House of Representative elections. Plus with COVID-19 it makes everything harder since most people aren't going to the polls and voting through the mail.

Lansing is getting some help through a six figure grant from the Center for Tech and Civic Life, a nonprofit voting advocacy group. Most of the funding will help keep the election process safe for voters and poll workers. The grant will also provide help to absentee and mailed in ballot voters as well as purchase and install 12 new ballot drop boxes.

Funding will also go towards city election precinct and absentee counting board workers. There will be hazard pay for counters, as the city is looking to get more people to sign up. If you want to work a shift during this election you will receive a $100 bonus for working all day or a $50 bonus for working a shorter shift.
