Band-Aids are supposed to help you stay safe.

You give them to your little ones when they get a scrape.

But Band-Aids may be a little more problematic than that.

Band-Aids Sold In Michigan Contain Cancer-Causing Chemicals

In a new report, cancer-causing chemicals have been found in dozens of bandage brands.

Environmental Health Sciences and Mamavation reported that they tested 40 different bandages at a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-certified lab when they discovered this.

They found levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) also known as forever chemicals, in the tested bandages.

What Are Forever Chemicals?

Well, it is exactly how it sounds. They are chemicals that last forever.

If you place a 'forever chemical' band-aid on an open wound, the PFAS can enter your bloodstream and last in your body for years.

PFAS can be found in many places in your home including, cookware, makeup, drinking water, contact lenses, and dental floss.

The forever chemicals have been linked to reproductive issues, obesity, and some forms of cancer.

Yahoo News shared that 63% of the tested bandaids were designed for darker skin tones!

"These chemicals are toxic and were found in 65% of the products tested. Sixty-three percent of bandages designed for darker skin tones had traces of these chemicals too."

Excuse me?!

What Band-Aid Brands Had Forever Chemicals?

Sadly, a lot of band-aid brands we use every day have the forever chemicals.

Brands with the forever chemicals are:

  • Band-Aid
  • Care Science
  • Curad
  • CVS Health
  • Equate
  • First Honey
  • Rite Aid
  • Amazon's Solimo
  • Up & Up

I do not know about you but I am terrified! The next time I get a cut, I will have to think long and hard before grabbing a band-aid.
