French Fry Shortage Possible After Bad Weather
Imagine not being able to get those french fries, waffle fries, or even curly fries, as you stress eat this holiday season. That could be a legitimate problem for you, as there could possibly be a potato shortage in the U.S.
Colder, wet weather in both Canada in the United States damaged the potato crops, leading to a rush to try and keep up with the french fry demands in North America, according to Today.
With this shortage, you could very well see small portion sizes at fast food chains, as well as restaurants across the country, or even price hikes on french fries.
This could be the lowest potato output that the U.S. has seen since 2010, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Canada is suffering with this shortage as well, as over 18% of the potatoes planted in Manitoba had not been harvested.
