East Lansing’s Taco Bell Closes Its Doors, This Time for Good
We're sad to see another place go. This time, East Lansing says goodbye to another long-standing business.
Taco Bell in East Lansing Has Permanently Closed
Taco Bell, at the corner of Bailey Street and East Grand River Avenue, has closed its doors for the last time. The sign in the window may say "temporarily closed", but the "for lease" sign begs to differ.
How are we just now learning of this? I swear they were making tacos and quesadillas just the other day. Save for the "For Lease" sign in the window, it looks like it's just about to open. The chairs are stacked on top of the tables like they just finished mopping, and most, if not all, of the signage, is still up on the inside and outside. But, despite how it looks, The State News confirmed the loss on February 24th.
East Lansing Businesses That Have Closed Since 2020
Businesses open and close all of the time. However, closures have been especially abundant since 2020, and Taco Bell isn't the only business to permanently close in recent days.
Earlier this month, we heard the news that Wings Over East Lansing had closed its doors with no notice. There was no sign on the door or voicemail explanation, just a Facebook page that read permanently closed.
Late-Night Food Options in East Lansing
Taco Bell was a late-night staple in East Lansing, and I'm sure current students and alumni alike are sad to see it go. It may not have been gourmet, but it was definitely one of the places to go after drinks at the bar.
Late-night eateries in East Lansing are dwindling as well. Places like Jimmy Johns, which was notorious for staying open until 3 am on the weekends, now routinely closes at 10 pm. Thankfully, there are still places like Conrad's, open until 2:30 am.
