The cause of an accident that closed US-127 Friday morning has been determined.

WILX.com reports that a semi truck hydroplaned on the freeway around 3:30 AM Friday. This caused the vehicle to jackknife and come to rest on a median guardrail. Lansing Police told WILX that the semi's trailer was empty, and that it was the trailer that hydroplaned, causing the accident.

The driver was not injured. The freeway was closed until around 7:00 AM as crews worked to clean up diesel fuel that was spilled in the roadway.
